- Can you please give us a brief overview of yourself and your website, Noidentitytheft.com?
My name is Areyo, and I am one of the creators of noidentitytheft.com. I was never really aware of how crucial my identity was so I never paid attention to it (that is most of the American public), and it ended up costing me EVERYTHING. I not only had my identity stolen, I lost my business, lost all my money (declared bankruptcy), tarnished my 800 FICO score, lost my houses, my car, and my freedom (yes, I ended up in jail). My adventure is one of those stories that you might see happening in a suspenseful book or movie. But no, this actually happened to me and I want to make it my goal educating as many people as I can about how important it is to keep your identity protected. Nobody deserves what I went through and I want to help people become aware of this national epidemic that affects millions of people every year.
Noidentitytheft.com is a website that helps the public become aware of the dangers of identity theft. We have spent hundreds of hours researching all the top identity theft protection agencies and created a review site so the consumer doesn’t spend precious time going from site to site comparing them. It’s essentially a one stop shop comparing the pros and cons of each provider.
- Why is protecting one’s identity so important in this day and age?
Protecting one’s identity is needed now more than ever. In this time of instant information on the internet, an identity thief can obtain everything from someone online – all while being thousands of miles away. They can cause major damage within hours and by the time you find out, it’s too late. By having a reputable identity theft protection company, you can have peace of mind knowing you are being looked after.
Your credit is vital for being able to make large purchases. This is truer than ever now since we are becoming a paperless society. If you become a victim of identity theft, it’s possible that it will affect your ability to get the best rate when you apply for a loan.
Time is something we have less and less of each day because we are so busy. If your identity is ever breached, it takes an average of 300 hours to restore it back to normal before the intrusion. One of the main benefits of becoming a member of an identity theft protection company – is that they do all the leg work, so you don’t have to waste your time reconfiguring your identity with tons of phone calls and emails.
- What type of resources do you offer to help people looking to learn more about protecting themselves online?
We have created a vast identity theft glossary to help educate the public of all the different terms and definitions that are out there. We have a blog on recent news in the industry to keep people current. We have a FAQ section for people that would like to get answers to common questions.
By having these valuable resources available at their fingertips, the customers can always stay informed. Once they are educated from our unbiased reviews, they can then choose the identity theft protection company that best suits their needs and their families.
- Top myth about personal privacy that you’d like to expose?
Myth- “I don’t need identity theft protection; I can keep an eye on my identity on my own.”
Unless you spend your entire day monitoring your identity, you cannot accomplish what an identity theft protection agency can do with their monitoring technology. These companies go through millions of data points that scour the internet searching for identity thieves trying to cause malicious harm to people. A person trying to do that on their own is virtually impossible.
- Any guru, safety tips for online entrepreneurs?
A safety tip for anyone online, not just entrepreneurs is being careful of what you post on social media. Don’t talk about personal information that people can use to steal your identity – ie. date of birth, address, phone number, etc.
A good rule of thumb about social media is this: don’t post anything that you would be uncomfortable to share with a stranger.
- Future goals for your site?
Our future goal at noidentitytheft.com is to spread awareness. We want to educate as many people as possible to avoid becoming another statistic. I don’t ever want anyone to go through the misery of what I went through. It has been years since I had been taken advantage of and I am still paying the price for it. Knowledge is power, the more informed we are, the better off we will be.
