1. Hi! Please tell us about yourself and Online Check Writer.
I am a very small businessman in East Texas.
I began my career in the fuel industry several years ago. Most recently, I was drawn to the software industry. My experience includes successfully leading and managing teams to a better business level, by using all the technology that is available. We have around 200 employees working in East Texas for both the software side and the fuel side.
2. What inspired you to start a your business?
We have been in business since 2005 in fuel and oil. Onlinecheckwriter.com started recently, due to the lack of proper software options of check printing and check payments for small business owners. It’s not too complex like some things that are already available on the market; it is just simple enough for what a small business is looking for.
3. Who are your primary clients?
Most of our clients are small to midsize business organizations. We serve everything from mom and pop shops to government entities with more than 2 million employees. We also have a special consumer plan for individuals. Lastly, we have special plans for 501(c) charitable organizations, as well as a plan for students.
4. What problem does Online Check Writer solve?
We provide a solution for the digitalization of checks, including traditional checks to allow printing at home, office, or on any printer. It is a secure and simple on-demand platform for checks. It functions more than just a printing software, by keeping your finances safe and in order. It integrates seamlessly with your bank and effectively blocks any unauthorized or forged checks from hitting your account. We also offer services for automatically reconciling your cleared and uncleared checks, printing deposit slips online for any bank, connecting to QuickBooks, and printing checks on Blank Check Paper. We do full outsourcing of checks for many clients. We print and mail checks by USPS, directly to the payees of our customers on the same business day.
5. What are some of the benefits of using blank paper checks vs. stocking pre-printed checks?
The first and most important benefit is that it offers the convenience that you can print checks from multiple bank accounts into one blank check stock. You don’t need to change the printer paper tray for each bank account as you do with pre-printed checks. Moreover, it is secured, your bank accounts details print only on demand, but pre-printed checks always have these details on the checks and poses the risk of others stealing information. Another important thing is that it is almost 80 percent cheaper than pre-pended checks, even with higher quality check paper. Since there are several design tools available in onlinecheckwriter.com, it’s easy to design checks anyway you want with your company logo in a few seconds.
6. Your software is now integrated with QuickBooks (Awesome!). How has this upgrade affected your business?
It made a tremendous change in customer acquisition after we integrated with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks desktop versions. QuickBooks has very sophisticated security and branding requirements to integrate with them. Since we have been maintaining banking grade security, it was not much of an issue to get integrated with QuickBooks. It is a trust for the customer that Online Check Writer meets the highest standard of QuickBooks Online and desktop. Online Check Writer can also integrate with more than 16,000 banks in the country.
7. What is one problem that you encountered when first launching your business?
Since we have been using this software internally for many years, we did not have much of a problem commercializing it. We did have some challenges when we were first integrating it with more than 16,000+ banks in the United States.
8. As a Texas-based company, what is your opinion of the booming startup scene that is spreading across the United States and Canada?
Many people have long thought that all startups should start from Silicon Valley, California. Lately, we have so many e-tools and organizations available in Texas, (especially in Austin and Dallas) to boost startups and serve not just the whole country but also the world. It is getting better and better every day. A real hub of a second Silicon Valley is growing in Austin, Texas.
9. Any expert advice for startup owners who are in the fintech industry?
Always do tomorrow’s job today and today’s job right now. Remember, your most dissatisfied customer feedback is your best tool to improve your product.
