When you are thinking about the artificial intelligence, then the chances are that you are thinking also about the anthropomorphic robots which can easily make decisions on their own. But the artificial intelligence has already a huge impact in the insurance space. This is the reason why the TechCrunch is very excited to declare that the Founder and CEO of Omnius named Sofie Quidenus Wahlforss is also joining them at the TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin.
Omnius is an artificial intelligence driven service which can process several documents (covering the documents with handwriting) and also can classify them and can extract the relevant data. In this way, the customers of Omnius can easily utilize the platform for handling automated claims. The startup doesn’t actually want to disrupt the existing insurance companies. Instead of doing this, the company is working with some bigger insurance companies like Baloise, Allianz, AmTrust and the Wefox. Last year, in 2018, Omnius had raised an amount of $22.5 million Series A funding which was led by the Berlin headquarter VC firm named Target Global and then MMC Ventures as well as the Talis Capital. The existing investors named Anthemis and Unbound also participated, and next, the Omnius wants to develop and move forward to the United States.
The Omnius is very aware about the fact that relying on the artificial intelligence can make some issues. Several artificial intelligence driven platform acts as sort of the black box, Omnius says the center and front which it wants to create transparent, fast and empathetic.
