Today, Google has said that they have appointed Sanjay Gupta, as their vice president and manager of the operations and sales for their India business. Sanjay Gupta was a former and top executive with the Disney India as well as Star. Sanjay Gupta is going to replace Rajan Anandan. Rajan Anandan left the company to provide his services to VC fund Sequoia Capital India and he has joined there as the managing director. Before joining the Android, Sanjay Gupta served as the managing director at the Disney India and Star and had helped the Star to make a greater push in the business of digital consumers via video streaming service named Hotstar and there he worked aggressively on the partnerships and the licensing for the rights of cricket along with other contents.
Hotstar has gathered cashes in the popularity of the cricket during the most important events of crickets this year and Hotstar has claimed that they had more than 100 million users that time who were enjoying their services everyday and over 300 million users were doing that in each month. Gupta, in a statement, told that the leveraging the power of the technology was quite exciting as that solved some of the unique challenges in India and also made the Internet as an engine of the economic growth for the communities and the people. He was quite happy to join that passionate group throughout the Google and was looking forward to making a great contribution to the digital journey of India.
