Weeks after taking the wraps off Canoo’s electric vehicle by itself, the startup firm and the co-founder Stedan Krause is accused of marital and gender discrimination along with breach of contract, wrongful termination and harassment in a lawsuit file. This lawsuit was filed by a former head of the communication of the company named Christina Krause. She is also the wife of Stefan Krause. A spokesperson of Canoo said that the company didn’t comment of the pending litigation.
The lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of Los Angles and now it makes several allegations against the co-founder Stefan and the company Canoo. The file includes that the Christina was paid much lesser than the other founding staffs. Besides, she wasn’t given co-founder designation or any equity stake which often appears with the title, though she was a founding employee. Lawsuit also focuses on Stefan as he moved away from CEO role in August for his personal reasons. In addition, in July 2019, Stefan also filed for getting divorce from his wife Christina.
The CTO of the company named Ulrich Kranz has taken over the operations on daily basis of Canoo and Stefan is focusing on the fundraising. He is now the Chairman of the Advisory Board. Lawsuit reveals further details about this company Canoo. The lawsuit says that at the end of the meeting, Li, Stefan and Stern made a “gentlemen’s agreement” to begin an EV company and Christina was appointed for performing administrative related tasks for the formation of a fresh company. When the meeting was held with Li and Stern, at the same time Stefan left his previous job as the CFO of a troubled company named Faraday Future.
When the company began its journey, it had only 10 found employees and 9 of them became co-founders but Christina alleges in lawsuit that only she was excluded from the founder status.
