Landon Murie Talks Property Management Marketing and SEO

I recently had the opportunity to talk with Landon Murie about his company Goodjuju. Read our conversation below to learn more about his company and insight for other entrepreneurs.

Q: Please tell us about yourself and your company?

A: Sure! Thanks for having me on. My name is Landon Murie and I am the founder of Goodjuju. We help property management companies with advertising, reputation management, and SEO (search engine optimization) so that they can get more exposure and traffic online from search engines like Google and Bing.

These companies really want to be found by local property owners who are searching for someone to help them rent out their home or apartment. Our unique tactics help them capture this traffic from online searches and turn it into new leads for their business.

Q. That sounds amazing! Can you tell me what inspired you to get into this industry?

A: It actually started about 5 years ago when I started my own property management company in Utah. While growing that company, I dove really deep into learning SEO, marketing, and website design. This helped our company grow exponentially. I quickly found that I was enjoying the SEO and marketing more than running a property management company, so I decided to step away from property management and start a marketing firm that specializes in helping other property managers across the US with these strategies and tactics. I really love what I do. There are so many great property management companies with potential, but when it comes to marketing, they don’t know what to do or where to start. Our job is to help uncover the hidden potential and growth that so many of these companies have.

Q: What is the main benefit of SEO?

A: The main benefit of “truly effective” SEO is the ability to grow your property management company. A more nerdy explanation of how SEO works would be something like this: It’s the many online signals that Google is receiving about your brand and website that helps Google to determine what searches, or “keywords” they should show your website for, and how high your website should rank compared to other websites.

Q: What is one of the biggest challenges in your industry?

A: It’s difficult for a lot of people to understand that SEO is not an overnight “magic trick”. Some people expect instant results and it’s difficult to help them understand that SEO is a long-term strategy that takes 6+ months.

Q: How do you overcome this challenge?

A: The way I try to overcome this is by showing clients proof of real results. If we can show examples of how our strategies have worked for dozens of other property management companies, it really helps them to see that we know what we are doing, and that are results are proven time and time again.

Q: What are some interesting personal facts about yourself?

A: I love Tattoos! I also enjoy skateboarding and snowboarding.

Q: Any parting advice for entrepreneurs?

A: If you sell a service rather than a product, try to niche down as much as possible and find the ideal clients that you really want to work with that you can focus in on. For example, we could be doing SEO for any type of business, but we focus on doing SEO for property managers and that has really paid off in the growth we have seen and the success we are able to deliver for our clients.
