  1. Q: Describe the current diaper market in Nigeria.   Is there a preference among consumers, between cloth and disposable diapers?

A: Modern cloth diapers are new to the Nigerian market and the awareness is growing gradually. The fashionable and health conscious middle class parents, that know about modern cloth diapers purchase the Rumparooz modern cloth diapers. They love to see their babies in beautiful diapers that will also prevent blow –out embarrassment, unlike disposables, whenever they are out with their baby. They step out with their babies in style and with confidence. Rumparooz is available in vibrant colors and beautiful prints every parent will love to see their baby in and it is also designed to contain any form of mess that happens in the diaper, thus keeping baby’s cute outfit clean and mommy’s too.

  1. Q: Your site retails the highly popular Rumparooz brand of cloth diapers. What sets this brand apart from other cloth diapers on the market?

A: The Rumparooz modern cloth diaper brand started in 2006 out of a mother’s frustration to get the right diaper for her daughter who’s skin was highly sensitive to all the available brands of disposable diaper. Carefully designed by a mother for her daughter, the diaper has since inception maintained it’s top quality.

Rumparooz is leak proof; it has a dual (double) inner gusset, which is patented by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This provides a double barrier of protection inside the diaper leaving no chance of escape for even the messiest of messes! The inner part of the diaper is made up of a stay-dry hypoallergenic material that keeps moisture away from baby’s skin and is unlikely to cause allergic reaction.

The excellent quality of this diaper has distinguished it among other diapers in the market garnering it multiple awards for its technology, design, ease of use and quality.

  1. Q: What are the benefits of using cloth diapers over a typical disposable option?

A: Cloth diapers are very comfortable on babies firstly because, they are made from super soft and breathable fabrics that allows airflow inside the diaper, keeping baby cooler. They are also very gentle on baby’s bottom as against scratchy / stiff plastics in disposable diapers that rub into babies skin. This is a fact that disposable diaper brands acknowledge and they also try to include their own version of cotton-like components into their kind of diapers. Secondly, cloth diapers do not contain absorbent chemicals that cause irritant related diaper rash that is likely to be very sore and uncomfortable for babies.

Cloth diapers are non toxic, there is a lot of chemical exposure for babies in disposable diapers as these diapers are in continuous contact with babies tender skin at all times during their diapering years (approximately 0-3 years), which some newborns and babies with sensitive skin or lungs might not tolerate so easily thus resulting in lots of skin irritation. Amongst the chemicals found in disposable diapers is a carcinogenic chemical Dioxin, an extremely toxic by-product of the paper-bleaching process, listed by the EPA as the most toxic of all cancer-linked chemicals.

Cloth Diapers help children potty train faster; Children in cloth diapers train on average 1 year to 10 months earlier than children in disposable diapers.

Cloth diapers are very fashionable; they come in different colors and prints that can be combined with any cute T-shirt.

Cloth diapers are economical, parents save money with each diaper change.

Cloth diapers prevent waste and they save the environment: A child that uses disposable diapers will go through at least 3,500 all through the diapering age. This is a lot of pollution on the environment coming from just one baby!

Also, no one knows how long it takes for a disposable diaper to decompose, but it is estimated to be about 250-500 years, long after your children, grandchildren and great, great, great grandchildren will be gone, so the very first disposable diaper is still in the landfill! It is better to think of making our environment a healthier and happier place to live for our children and us.

  1. Q: Do you distribute your products in physical retail centers as well? If so, where can customers find your products?

A: We are presently working on having our products in major retail stores across the country so that they can be readily available to our target market.
